Winter
of 1999:
NABA to Petition for Endangered Species Status!
Based
upon the data provided by Barry Williams, indicating that the few remaining
individuals of the eastern population of Regal Fritillary constitute a
separate subspecies, NABA intends to petition the United States Fish &
Wildlife Service to list this eastern sub-species as an endangered species
In
addition, because of the overwhelming evidence demonstrating the devastating
and continuing decline in Regal Fritillaries across all of their former
range, we intend to petition the Fish and Wildlife Service to list the
entire species as an endangered species.
